Changing Your Email Address
How to change the email address on your Allison Voice account, and what to do if you didn't request a change.
How to change your email
- Click your avatar in the top-right of the dashboard → Profile
- Under Email address, click Change email
- Enter the new email and click Send verification emails
- You'll get two emails:
- To your current email — a link to approve the change (with a "this wasn't me" reject option)
- To the new email — a link to confirm you own that inbox
- Click both links within 1 hour to complete the change
- Both addresses will get a confirmation when the change is done
Why we verify from both addresses
Changing your sign-in email is one of the most sensitive account actions. Requiring both sides protects you from two different attacks:
- Old email (approve) — only the current account owner has access to this inbox, so nothing changes without their consent. This catches the case where someone has temporary access to your account (e.g. an unlocked laptop) and tries to retarget it to an email they control.
- New email (verify) — prevents typos. Without this, a mistyped address would permanently lock you out of your own account.
Both must confirm. Neither side alone completes the change.
"This wasn't me" — rejecting a change
If you get an approve email but didn't request the change, click the reject link in that email. The change is cancelled immediately and no changes are made to your account. You'll also get a follow-up security alert so you have a record of it.
If you see a rejection alert you didn't trigger: your account may have been accessed. Review your recent activity and contact support.
Cancelling a pending change
If you started a change and want to call it off before clicking any links:
- Go to Profile → Email address
- You'll see the pending change listed with a Cancel pending change button
- Click to cancel — both email links stop working immediately
Links expired
Both links expire in 1 hour from when you started the change. If you missed the window, just start the change again from your profile page.
Rate limits
You can start up to 3 email changes per 24 hours per account. If you hit the limit, wait until tomorrow.
What doesn't change
- Your user ID, org membership, role, saved data, and integrations all stay put. Only your sign-in email changes.
- Your current browser session stays valid — you don't have to sign back in.
- Any old sign-in links sent to your previous email stop working after the change.
